Electro-acoustic beats at SALT
SALT will host an electro-acoustic performance series throughout May and June with musicians Mehmet Can Özer (May 10), Erdem Helvacıoğlu (May 22) and Tolga Tüzün (June 13) performing on separate evenings in the Walk-in Cinema at SALT Beyoğlu.
The first event sees Özer performing on the quadrophonic system, processing and creating new sound compositions in real time with his custom built software “Aşure.” He triggers the subconcious codes of everyday sounds and offers an alternative perception of space by allowing it to become a component of his performance.
Özer’s professional career started when he was accepted to Bilkent University on the FMPA for composition division with full scholarship. He studied composition and orchestral conducting at Conservatoire de Géneve for both electro-acoustic and instrumental composition divisions. Later he studied at Zurich HMT. Özer is currently a lecturer in Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and also working on his software “Aşure” and performing concerts.
