Jan Holoubek’s debut feature is a moving action drama based on the real-life case of Tomasz Komenda, a young man wrongly sentenced to twenty five years in prison. The filmmakers make an attempt to find answers to all the burning questions that have persisted until today. Why did an innocent man have to wait eighteen years in a cell for justice?
Komenda was 23 years old when his everyday life was brutally interrupted; he was arrested overnight, jailed, and charged with murder. Subsequent expert examinations confirmed his involvement in the crime, and all the evidence was against him. For nearly two decades in prison, he was beaten, intimidated, humiliated, and left to fend for himself. Finally, after eighteen years of imprisonment, prosecutors and a police officer stood in his way and exposed the truth about the detainee’s puzzling case.
The screening will take place on Friday, November 24 at 19.00 in the Walk-in Cinema.
