Focusing on critical exploration of history and sites, curator Avital Barak continues her doctoral studies on forms of resistance manifested through bodily movements in public spaces. In her current research, Barak particularly examines a peripheral perspective on the legacy of the Ottoman Empire, primarily in the geographical regions of Israel and Palestine.
As part of the Who’s in town? talks, Barak will present her current research and share her experiences around the collective research method she has been developing within the Institute for Public Presence (IPP) at the Center for Digital Art (CDA) in Holon. Emphasizing knowledge acquisition as a collective effort and deliberately avoiding hierarchy and leadership dynamics, this method draws from various sources, including artistic research practices, the exploration of physical and virtual spaces, and collaborative work spanning various disciplines.
Currently the resident of SAHA’s Curatorial Program in collaboration with the New York-based contemporary art institution Artis, Dr. Avital Barak’s talk will be held in English and is open to everyone.
