Ulaş Akın has worked at İstanbul Metropolitan Planning (İMP) for the past five years. Akın’s PhD research topic is an analysis
of uncertainties in decision-making and of innovative tools for institutional capacity-learning relations in urbanism. Akın received a BSc and an MSc in ‘Urban & Regional Planning’ from ITU Faculty of Architecture Taşkışla Campus and holds an international diploma in ‘Public Management & Urban Governance in Transitional Countries’ from the program of IHS. He has also participated in the master course ‘Urban Management and Development’ in the Netherlands and completed special training for leaders and managers of public and private sector, and civil society organized by Common Purpose Turkey in 2010. His experience is broad and includes involvement in; music performance and album projects, contemporary art projects, EU projects, research projects, cultural heritage management projects, metropolitan planning projects, regional planning projects, sectoral planning projects such as: transportation, logistics, tourism, participatory urban regeneration capacity building projects, national and international academic and professional workshops, and contribution to academic programs in Turkey and abroad.
